Severn Trent Services Operating Services has been awarded a certificate of registration by the Legionnella Control Association (LCA). This confirms that our organisation is a suitably qualified provider of services to prevent Legionellosis and that we agree to adhere to their code of conduct.
It is the legal responsibility of the owner/operator of the water system to take steps to prevent the spread of Legionellosis. Legionellosis is any illness caused by exposure to Legionella. The required activities can be outsourced to a third party. However, the responsibility remains with the owner/operator so it is imperative that the service provider is competent.
The LCA emerged in 1999 under the guise of the Code of Conduct Association and was renamed in 2005. The organisation was developed to support the water management industry, offering reassurance to commercial and industrial customers that service providers they had certified were competent to carry out the relevant risk assessments and monitoring.
To measure the competence of Service Providers, the LCA developed a Code of Conduct which stipulates certain service level agreements which must be adhered to. The code covers;
- responsibilities; allocating and documenting who is to carry out the activities so all parties know their role,
- training and competence; we need to be qualified to an agreed standard and provide you with the appropriate documentation for your reassurance,
- control and measures; we document what needs to be measured, the frequency and by whom,
- and record keeping and reviews; by knowing what need to be recorded and the review period, you are able to take control of your compliance.
The continued certification confirms Severn Trent Services Operating Services agrees to abide by the LCA’s guidelines. Our certification is reviewed on an annual basis to ensure our Risk Assessor’s qualifications remain up to date. This gives our customers reassurance that we are competent to carry out activities on their behalf.
