AREN'T LEISURELY ABOUT WATER MANAGEMENT
Center Parcs offers family holidays and short breaks in tranquil forested villages. Nestled in the heart of Nottinghamshire, Sherwood Forest Village is the largest of the four UK sites. Its 400 acres has 794 villas sympathetically integrated into the woodland. Through the leisure facilities and domestic requirements within the villas, bars and restaurants, this site uses a significant amount of water.
Project Background
As one of the first organisations within the leisure industry to achieve ISO 14001, Center Parcs is an environmental leader in its sector. They are committed to promoting diversity of wildlife, protecting habitats and carefully managing resources at all of their villages.
Proactive and careful management of their water resource has enabled the Sherwood Forest team to identify an uncharacteristic rise in consumption. Having previously delivered successful solutions to this site and built a trusted partnership, they contacted us to detect and repair their leaks.
Work Conducted
We worked together to plan the delivery of each phase of the project. One of our key considerations was to carry out the work with the least disruption to guests. The work was planned according to noise levels and the type of activity. Using sound detecting equipment, we audited the site and focused on key areas where water mains were located. Over a matter of weeks, leaks and burst mains were detected and new ductile iron mains were excavated and replaced. Areas of work were well signed and safely cordoned off throughout the excavations, and flawlessly reinstated to retain the appeal of the site, knowing the importance the environment plays in maintaining the charm and attractiveness of the village.
