Two divisions within Severn Trent Services (STS) UK & Ireland have achieved Investors in People. The UK’s leading people management standard, awarded every three years to companies shown to be delivering business impact and growth.
This January both C2C and Severn Trent Metering Services both underwent their three year review to ensure they are meeting the changing needs of the market, business and their employees. Investors in People (IIP) met with both businesses to consult with employees and managers and conduct internal research to gain an understanding of the business improvement processes within the company.
STS were assessed and reviewed against the following subjects: company strategy, communications, learning and development, recognition and reward, involvement and empowerment and continuous improvement.
The IIP commended STS on a number of areas, including; the strength of good practice that the company demonstrated in managing its people, the excellent level of understanding, throughout all levels of the organisation, of what the company is trying to achieve, and the attitude of employees who felt they had the training, skills and confidence to carry out their duties to a high standard.
STS use key communications channels and have an open culture in communicating its strategy and objectives through updates on its financial targets, growth ambitions and emphasis on health and safety by using channels such as regular manager memos, the annual Action Plan booklets and company-wide recognition schemes.
